Steven L. West, Ph.D., C.R.C.
Steven
L. West is an associate professor of rehabilitation
counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University. He
currently teaches on topics such as marriage and family
therapy
and substance use and misuse. He received his undergraduate
training in psychology at the University of Tennessee.
He also received his master’s degree in rehabilitation
counseling with an emphasis on substance abuse counseling
from Tennessee, where his studies focused on the rehabilitation
of individuals with substance use
disorders and coexisting disabilities. West completed
his doctoral work at Texas Tech University, concentrating
his studies on addictions etiology and family dynamics
of addiction.
He has published in
the
areas of substance abuse treatment and prevention,
substance abuse services for persons with disabilities
and vocational rehabilitation of substance
