Cynthia Young, M.S., C.R.C.

Cynthia Young is the Project Director for the Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center (DBATC) Coordination Outreach Research Center (CORC). The DBTAC-CORC is housed in the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling and is funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). Cynthia’s focus is on coordination and outreach for the National Network of ADA Centers, which provides assistance to individuals served by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Cynthia previously worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Workplace Supports and Job Retention (RRTC) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where she provided case management, job placement, and job support and retention services to individuals with disabilities. She also has experience in training and providing technical assistance on issues related to the employment of individuals with disabilities. As a business manager, Cynthia has employed individuals with disabilities and understands implementing reasonable accommodations to qualified workers with disabilities.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Rehabilitation Services and her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling both from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and has a dedication to working in the field of rehabilitation, with an emphasis on employment. In addition, she is dedicated to non-profit, faith-based work with urban youth and college students, and is the faculty advisor of a VCU student organization.
